Odyssey Group is looking for an Underwriting Associate to support the Underwriting team by analyzing and evaluating risks to determine appropriate coverage and pricing. You will play a key role in reviewing applications and assisting in the development of underwriting strategies to ensure profitable growth.
What You'll Do
- Analyze and evaluate insurance applications to determine risk acceptability and pricing.
- Assist in developing underwriting strategies and guidelines for profitable risk selection.
- Review and process policy endorsements, renewals, and cancellations.
- Collaborate with brokers and agents to gather necessary risk information.
- Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and records.
- Support senior underwriters with risk assessment and portfolio management tasks.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in insurance underwriting or a related analytical role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting.
- Knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance standards.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or ARM are a plus.
- Familiarity with underwriting software and data analysis tools.
