Canada Life is hiring an Underwriting Analyst for its New Business team. This role is suited to an inquisitive individual who enjoys continuous learning and applying knowledge in varied scenarios. You will be exposed to mid-sized New Business groups and work with Underwriting offices across Canada, with potential career paths in underwriting.
What You'll Do
- Calculate manual rates by manipulating data and determining the proper setup of classes.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
- Set up folders and files for new quotes and dispatch to the correct region.
- Perform an analysis of information received to complete quotes.
- Prepare experience analyses on all benefits (Life, LTD, STD, Health, and Dental) based on provided experience information.
- Calculate average billed rates.
- Run Life and Disability reserves.
- Review and understand results to provide a summary to the Underwriter.
- Provide assistance to Underwriters through the quoting process.
- Initiate process improvements and work on projects that streamline processes or assist with decisions.
What We're Looking For
- Post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Curious and inquisitive nature with a love for math.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in partnership with team members.
- Effective and efficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure, and prioritize multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
- Powerful analytical skills providing good judgement, solutions to problems, and great decisions.
- Attention to detail and precision in calculations.
- Understanding of putting the customer first.
- Thirst for knowledge and willingness to work towards a GBA or full CEBS designation under the CEBS program.
- Reliability Status Security Clearance (a condition of employment).
Nice to Have
- Bilingualism (fluent in French and English) is an asset but required for Quebec only.
- Experience and knowledge of group benefit products.
- Extensive knowledge of Excel.
- Knowledge of Group Underwriting and benefit pricing.
Team & Environment
You will work with many Underwriting offices across Canada, collaborating with advisors and brokers on mid-sized New Business groups, usually in the 200 to 1000 life range.
Benefits & Compensation
- Base salary range: $48,400.00 - $80,200.00 annually.
