Oklo Inc. is seeking a Turbomachinery Engineer to join its engineering team immediately. This role is responsible for the design, procurement, and operation of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, and turbines in Oklo’s advanced fission power plants, working closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
What You'll Do
- Define equipment requirements and specifications for commercial off-the-shelf and custom-designed rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, and turbines
- Identify key performance metrics and develop verification test plans for new equipment
- Work in cross disciplinary teams, including process engineering, instrumentation and control, power generation and distribution teams, and operations to integrate equipment into power plants and test facilities
- Work with external vendors on equipment analysis, design, procurement, and testing to ensure rotating equipment meet plant requirements
- Develop and document operations and maintenance plans for rotating equipment in the power plant
- Generate technical documentation to be included in regulatory filings and internal technical reports
- Become the responsible engineer for the development of a rotating equipment system
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline
- At least 5 years of experience in the design, operations, or maintenance of rotating equipment used in the power generation, petroleum, chemical, or other similar industries
- Broad familiarity with engineering principles, and having strong systems engineering and operations intuition
Nice to Have
- Experience with first-of-kind turbomachinery development and testing
- Experience with developing operational plans for rotating equipment in a plant-like setting
- Experience with operating and/or generating design specifications for industrial steam turbines

Compensation: $73,000 - $157,000 base salary, performance incentives, and equity. Salary may fall outside of the range provided and will be dependent on applicant experience.
Work Mode
Hybrid role with flexible work hours. Remote employees required to travel to Santa Clara, CA twice a quarter. Two weeks of in-person onboarding required at headquarters.
