About the Role

Prisma Health is looking for a Trauma Registry Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying trauma patients, abstracting clinical data from medical records, and coding diagnoses and injuries using ICD-10, AIS, and E-Codes. You will enter this data into our Trauma Registry according to national and state standards, performing critical analysis to support performance improvement, research, and our Trauma Center Designation process, all while upholding our values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity, and teamwork.

What You'll Do

  • Accurately identify patients meeting Trauma Registry inclusion criteria per SC, NTDB, and ACS standards.
  • Abstract clinical data from pre-hospital EMS records and in-patient medical records, including demographics, diagnoses, injuries, procedures, complications, and outcomes.
  • Code procedures, diagnoses, and injuries using ICD-10, AIS, and E-Codes, entering them into the Trauma Database.
  • Support performance improvement by gathering data on metrics, reporting complications, and analyzing registry data for clinical process initiatives.
  • Prepare and submit Trauma Registry records quarterly to the State Trauma Registry and annually to the National Trauma Data Bank.
  • Generate reports from the Trauma Registry Database for information requests from administration, physicians, and other departments.
  • Perform routine data analysis and validation to maintain the quality and integrity of the registry.
  • Participate in Multi-disciplinary Trauma Patient Care Conferences, Committee meetings, and the Trauma Association of South Carolina.
  • Work independently with the Trauma Registry software vendor and IT on data submissions, upgrades, and system enhancements.

What We're Looking For

  • An Associate Degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in medical record coding or relevant clinical work.

Nice to Have

  • Possession of RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CSTR certification, or eligibility.

  • Productivity Tools: Spreadsheets, word processing, databases

Team & Environment

This is a non-management individual contributor role that reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Work Mode

This is a part-time, day-shift, remote position.
