HDR Engineering is looking for a Transmission Engineering Manager to lead and guide clients, projects, and teams on high-voltage transmission line initiatives. In this role, you will leverage your broad technical knowledge to manage engineering and design components, ensuring project success from conception through construction.
What You'll Do
- Leverage technical expertise to manage and execute engineering and design components for transmission projects.
- Develop and implement project execution plans for the technical aspects of projects.
- Work independently and/or direct, mentor, train, and supervise Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD technicians, and administrative staff.
- Perform Project Management duties as needed, including managing scope, schedule, budget, proposal development, and risk assessment.
- Coordinate or lead the QA/QC process on projects per HDR’s Quality Management Systems requirements.
- Perform quality checks or reviews of projects from other teams.
- Lead multiple concurrent projects utilizing teams in different locations.
- Work with senior engineers to identify and develop specific technical expertise.
- Assist in developing technical papers or presentations for industry conferences.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license recognized by the local licensing board.
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software.

Nice to Have
- Construction and/or field experience in transmission.
- Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional/department/technical managers, and project staff.
- Experience working with Renewables developers and/or the interconnection of Renewables.
- Transmission line design experience using PLS-CADD, steel/wood structure analysis, foundation design, material procurement, specifications, and construction support.
