The University of Notre Dame Australia's School of Medicine is seeking a Part-time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Coordinator Student Matters) for its Kimberley Centre for Remote Medical Training on the Broome Campus. In this role, you will be responsible for providing dedicated pastoral care and acting as the key liaison between medical students and the School to achieve optimal financial, social, and cultural outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Provide pastoral care and oversee student support, addressing factors impacting academic progress; triage and refer to support services as appropriate.
- Facilitate effective liaison between students and the School, including with student associations, and facilitate student access to support services.
- Advise the National Head of Student Matters on student issues including transfers, extended leave, welfare, progress, fitness to practice, conduct breaches, and disciplinary matters.
- Liaise between relevant educational academics and the National Head of Student Matters on student welfare matters.
- Work with Student Matters Coordinators across campuses and the National Head to provide backup and support.
- Participate in National selection processes.
- Provide teaching into the program.
- Support and contribute to relevant research and scholarship, including pastoral care, the student experience, and student selection.
- Participate in relevant School committees.
- Assist with the development of and engagement with the School’s Alumni.
- Participate in information events, orientation, enrolment, and other events and functions related to students and pastoral care.
What We're Looking For
- Possession of a Medical, Clinical Psychology, or other health discipline degree.
- For Level B (Lecturer): Proven ability to manage complex personal and professional issues and provide high quality pastoral care.
- For Level C (Senior Lecturer): Demonstrated track record in managing complex personal and professional issues and providing high quality pastoral care.
- Highly effective or advanced communication and negotiating skills.
- High level organisation and management skills.
- Proficiency or expertise with technology and learning and teaching programs.
Nice to Have
- Experience in teaching at master’s level or higher, or in medical, health, or professional practice-based education settings.
