Cleveland Clinic Health System is hiring a Telephone Triage Registered Nurse to join our mission of transforming the patient experience. You will provide 24/7 remote access to patients, serving as their primary point of contact for healthcare questions and performing skilled nursing assessments over the phone. By prioritizing patient needs and referring them to the appropriate level of care, you will honor our commitment to excellence and leverage the Power of Every One.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients with health or illness questions.
- Collect subjective data related to presenting problems and medical history.
- Utilize critical thinking to match symptoms to protocol, assign acuity, and ensure safe, timely call disposition.
- Offer appropriate home treatment advice.
- Document encounters and decision-making concisely and accurately in the EMR.
- Access patient information via the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Educate patients using active listening and communicate based on their level of understanding.
- Ensure caller comprehension of health information and clinical advice.
- Establish immediate therapeutic rapport with callers and utilize H.E.A.R.T. principles.
- Listen, communicate, and document simultaneously while navigating computer programs.
- Apply the nursing process to identify needs and interventions.
- Meet established quality standards, competencies, and training requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Residence within one hour of Beachwood, OH.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Current state license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Three or more years of RN experience in med/surg, primary care, pediatrics, ED, critical care, intensive care, or case management.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certification in a nursing specialty.
- Experience in telephone triage, Med/Surg, Primary Care, Pediatrics, ED and/or Case Management.
- Expertise in crisis intervention, teaching/coaching, disease management, and diagnostic monitoring.

This is a hybrid position based in Cleveland.
