UHealth, the University of Miami Health System, is hiring a Telemetry Technician 1. In this full-time role, you will provide essential indirect patient care by monitoring continuous cardiac telemetry as ordered by physicians. You will be responsible for observing heart rhythms and effectively communicating all findings and changes to the assigned nurse.
What You'll Do
- Observe cardiac rhythms on patient monitors on a continuous basis during your shift.
- Recognize interference and correct the problem as needed.
- Recognize and immediately report dysrhythmias to the appropriate nursing staff.
- Record monitor strips on all patients every 4 hours.
- Document PR interval, rate, and rhythm on the recorded strip every 4 hours.
- Assure that all telemetry monitor alarms are always on.
- Retrieve rhythms stored in memory upon request.
- Oversee supply inventory and report malfunctioning equipment.
- Comply with the employee code of ethics and standards of behavior.
- Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of an EKG certification program.
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Nice to Have
- Minimum 1 year of relevant telemetry or cardiac monitoring experience.
