Lead the execution of cutting-edge telecommunications projects focused on satellite-based 4G/5G/6G, Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), and Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity. This role drives technical coordination and project delivery across R&D and commercial initiatives in a rapidly scaling space technology setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee satellite communication projects from concept through delivery, ensuring adherence to technical scope, budget, and timeline targets.
- Coordinate engineering teams developing 3GPP-based systems, including NTN, direct-to-device (D2D), beamforming, roaming, and positioning (PNT) technologies.
- Lead R&D efforts in end-to-end satellite-enabled telecom stacks and support proposal development for institutional funding programs.
- Act as the main liaison with customers, suppliers, and agencies such as ESA and the European Commission.
- Develop and manage technical and commercial proposals, including work breakdown structures, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.
- Align internal teams across engineering, operations, and management to ensure efficient project execution.
- Monitor performance metrics, control costs, and track progress against milestones.
- Lead contract negotiations and ensure deliverables meet project goals.
- Identify and mitigate technical and programmatic risks in collaboration with engineering leads.
- Ensure compliance with quality, product assurance, and relevant standards, including ECSS where applicable.
- Produce documentation for reviews, technical reporting, and project closure.
Qualifications
- PhD or MSc in Telecommunications, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 2–5 years of professional experience in telecom, satellite communications, or wireless systems.
- Understanding of 3GPP standards (4G/5G/6G) and experience with NTN and IoT connectivity.
- Proven track record managing R&D or institutional projects, particularly with space or telecom agencies.
- Strong grasp of project management principles: budgeting, scheduling, and risk analysis.
- Experience drafting technical proposals and project documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical, managerial, and external stakeholders.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced startup environment with shifting priorities.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Must be based in Europe or hold a valid European work permit.
Preferred Background
- Experience applying ECSS standards in satellite communication projects.
- Technical knowledge of 5G NTN or direct-to-device system architectures.
- Background in quality or product assurance for space or telecom systems.
- Familiarity with PNT, satellite-to-UAV links, or advanced wireless R&D.
