Lockheed Martin Canada is hiring a Technical Writer Staff (Level 4) to join the Production Engineering Central Services (PECS) team. In this role, you will modernize existing process documentation and be instrumental in designing a future-focused documentation architecture for our next-generation production engineering knowledge platform.
What You'll Do
- Create and maintain core information products, including process manuals, reference guides, job aids, and online help systems aligned with the operations roadmap.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation standards and a style guide for Production Engineering.
- Leverage content management and publishing tools like Adobe FrameMaker, XML/HTML workflows, SharePoint, and Confluence to produce electronic publications.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) through interviews and workshops to capture technical knowledge and convert it into concise, user-centric content.
- Structure information for discoverability by applying information architecture principles, modular authoring, and taxonomy best practices.
- Enhance user experience by recommending and implementing improvements to documentation delivery platforms and overall content strategy.
- Support business transformation by participating in cross-functional Production Engineering initiatives that drive process optimization and digital adoption.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker or equivalent DITA/structured authoring tools.
- Demonstrated ability to create clear, concise process documentation for complex technical subjects.
- The ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance.
Nice to Have
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and mastery of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Experience developing enterprise-wide style guides and documentation frameworks.
- Background creating reference manuals, job guides, or online help systems for manufacturing or software applications.
- Familiarity with XML, HTML, Python, or Visual Basic for content automation or scripting.
- Experience with platforms like SharePoint, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, WordPress, or other CMS platforms.
- A proven track record of virtual collaboration with geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong planning, organization, analytical, and decision-making abilities.

- The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, or Washington DC is $85,400 - $150,650. For states not listed, the salary range will reflect the candidate’s final work location.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located in Fort Worth, TX, Marietta, GA, or Palmdale, CA.
