About the Role
Document complex software and hardware systems used in national security contexts. Work closely with engineers and product teams to produce user guides, API documentation, system specifications, and operational manuals.
Responsibilities
- Develop user manuals for intelligence platforms and software tools
- Write system architecture overviews for internal and external stakeholders
- Produce API and integration documentation for developer audiences
- Create step-by-step operational procedures for field deployment
- Translate engineering specifications into accessible technical content
- Maintain version-controlled documentation repositories
- Collaborate with software engineers to document codebases
- Author system installation and configuration guides
- Develop troubleshooting workflows for technical support teams
- Draft release notes and update documentation for new features
- Ensure compliance with government documentation standards
- Standardize terminology across product documentation
- Illustrate system workflows and data pipelines
- Review documentation for technical accuracy and clarity
- Support certification and accreditation documentation packages
Nice to Have
- Experience with automated documentation generation tools
- Familiarity with DoD or IC documentation standards
- Background in computer science or electrical engineering
- Knowledge of machine learning or AI systems
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Proficiency in technical illustration software
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles
