About the Role
This role is responsible for overseeing global intellectual property operations, aligning patent strategy with business objectives, and providing legal guidance on IP protection, enforcement, and commercialization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement worldwide patent strategies supporting business goals
- Manage end-to-end prosecution of patent applications across jurisdictions
- Lead invention harvesting sessions with engineering and R&D teams
- Evaluate patentability and freedom-to-operate for new technologies
- Oversee outside counsel and patent firm relationships
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and due diligence activities involving IP assets
- Advise on IP aspects of joint development and licensing agreements
- Monitor competitor patent activity and assess potential risks
- Develop IP training programs for technical and business personnel
- Ensure compliance with global patent laws and regulations
- Coordinate with product development teams to identify patentable innovations
- Manage IP aspects of technology transfers and collaborations
- Prepare and present IP status reports to senior leadership
- Lead post-grant proceedings and opposition strategies when necessary
- Support litigation readiness and discovery processes involving patents
- Maintain patent portfolio databases and analytics
- Drive cost-effective IP management practices
- Evaluate emerging technologies for strategic IP opportunities
- Collaborate with standards organizations on IP-related matters
- Guide trade secret protection strategies in coordination with legal team
