About the Role

Lockheed Martin Canada is seeking a Technical Writer & Editor to join our mission-driven team. In this role, you will develop and update critical technical documentation for Aegis Weapon System (AWS) programs, creating new manuals from scratch and transforming complex engineering data into clear, structured documents for our government customer.

What You'll Do

  • Develop new and update existing technical documentation in accordance with customer-approved bibliographies, style guides, and work instructions.
  • Create new technical manuals from the ground up in baselines, countries, and programs where new documentation is required.
  • Organize content into a logical structure, identify all necessary engineering source data, and populate new documents.
  • Incorporate engineering source data into an authoring database following company standards.
  • Support the review process by incorporating all directed comments.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and go-to person for technical documentation.

What We're Looking For

  • Aegis Weapon System (AWS) maintenance and operational experience with at least one shipboard tour.
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining multiple AWS elements.
  • Proven knowledge of AWS and how it interfaces with Aegis Combat System (ACS) elements.
  • Ability to discuss technical and operational concepts related to AWS and ACS.
  • Skill in conveying complex technical content for manuals describing installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret, paraphrase, and rewrite engineering source data into a form suitable for the US Navy.
  • Proficiency writing with XML editors, primarily FrameMaker and Arbortext.
  • Ability to search, retrieve, update, and store data in SharePoint repositories.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technology and organize effectively.
  • Capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and complete work on time with minimal daily supervision.
  • Must be able to take and follow daily direction from a functional Team Lead.
  • Resilience under intense customer scrutiny, maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.
  • This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice to Have

  • Aegis Computer Network Technician (ACNT) experience or Aegis Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC).
  • Self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take on new responsibilities.
  • Experience authoring content to military standards.
