Modine is looking for a Technical Writer to join us in Engineering a Cleaner, Healthier World™. You will develop comprehensive user manuals and technical documentation for our data center products, translating complex technical information into clear, user-friendly content for operators, technicians, and facility managers.
What You'll Do
- Develop, write, and edit user manuals, installation guides, operation procedures, and maintenance documentation for data center/HVAC equipment.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to gather technical information and ensure accuracy.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to create precise and informative content.
- Establish style guides and document templates to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and branding.
- Organize content using structured authoring tools and content management systems (CMS).
- Incorporate safety protocols, troubleshooting steps, and best practices into manuals.
- Update and maintain documentation based on product revisions and feedback.
- Support the creation of training materials, quick-start guides, and digital help content.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in HVAC, mechanical systems, or data center infrastructure.
- Proficiency in authoring tools such as Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with interpreting technical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, UL/ETL compliance, and data center operational protocols.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience with HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and multilingual documentation practices.
