Bowhead is hiring a Technical Writer to join our team supporting NIWC Atlantic. In this role, you will provide direct technical writing, editing, and project support to the client and internal teams.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical writing and editing support, ensuring proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Perform configuration management of documentation using approved guidelines.
- Act as a document librarian, managing, classifying, and facilitating access to a vast collection of government publications.
- Provide comprehensive meeting support, including scheduling, facilitation, minute-taking, and action item tracking.
- Apply understanding of project management concepts and processes to support program goals.
- Create clear and effective presentation materials.
What We're Looking For
- Over eight (8) years of overall technical experience.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in technical writing, including editing, formatting, and performing configuration management.
- Hands-on experience with Sharepoint document filing systems.
- Proven experience in meeting support: scheduling, facilitating, preparing minutes, and tracking action items.
- Experience in project management support, evaluating if established goals and requirements are met.
- Experience related to Technical Navy programs.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Tools (Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel); working knowledge of MS Project.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must currently hold a security clearance at the TS/SCI level.
- Must be able to lift, move, and position equipment in both indoor and outdoor environments, including on uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to lean, crouch, twist, bend, and squat as needed to inspect infrastructure.
- Must be able to work outdoors in deployed environments and perform duties in adverse weather conditions.
Nice to Have
- A Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field of study.
