Cushman & Wakefield is hiring a Technical Specialist - Battery Disconnect Unit to develop robust strategies for the industry-leading integration of BDUs into Electric and Hybrid vehicle propulsion systems. In this role, you will lead technical requirements and provide guidance to GM DREs, cross-functional teams, and suppliers.
What You'll Do
- Lead and coordinate subsystem benchmarking to define best practices for BDUs.
- Build, develop, publish, and maintain documentation including Best Practices, SOR templates, and DFMEA templates.
- Participate in supplier technical reviews and assess potential suppliers and facilities.
- Provide technical support to program teams including Assistant Chief Engineers, Development Engineers, Validation Engineers, and Applications Engineers.
- Maintain a high-level understanding of Virtual Design, Development and Validation (VDDV) models and analysis methods.
- Participate in warranty reduction and quality improvement processes.
- Support Brand Quality Managers with technical expertise and problem resolution.
- Drive interface application decisions for BDUs to optimize system and vehicle performance.
- Define design tool needs and coordinate the development and maintenance of tools and databases.
- Responsible for safety tether execution and closure in PRTS.
- Strongly support the Safety Field Investigation (SFI) process.
- Develop and maintain the BDU technology road map and portfolio plan.
- Design, develop and maintain the BDU technology display in the Benchmarking Lab.
- Lead supplier critical design reviews for BDUs.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
- Minimum of 8+ years of engineering experience.
- Strong background and knowledge of propulsion system design.
- Experience working with suppliers on propulsion subsystem components.
- Proven ability to reach across organizational boundaries to garner support and deliver results.
- Expertise in the design of integrated, cross functional systems.
- Demonstrated leadership skills especially the use of influence.
- DFSS Certification level of Black Belt or Master Black Belt.
- Travel 10% internationally and domestically.

- Technical knowledge and practical experience with Microprocessors and pack sensing ASICs.
- Technical knowledge and practical experience with High voltage fuses and pyro disconnect devices.
- Technical knowledge and practical experience with High voltage busbars.
- Technical knowledge and practical experience with Thermal management of high voltage/current devices.
- Technical knowledge and practical experience with Validation testing of junction boxes and associated components.
- Technical knowledge and practical experience with Threaded fasteners.
- Technical knowledge and practical experience with Molded plastics.
