Medtronic is seeking a Technical Field Engineer II to join our team focused on Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) products. In this role, you will deliver education and training across the greater Chicago region while working remotely from a home office. Your work will directly support clinical research, physician training, and advanced troubleshooting for our life-saving technologies.
What You'll Do
- Deliver training and education on Medtronic products, competitive products, clinical evidence, and market dynamics to enhance technical sales.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Research Organization on clinical studies and physician research.
- Partner with the sales organization to develop and execute strategic technical and clinical training plans.
- Support CRM products by providing advanced troubleshooting assistance and advice.
- Train physicians and Medtronic employees regionally and nationally on new products, surgical procedures, and techniques.
- Incorporate Mentice and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) micra-implant simulators into the learning process.
- Support all aspects of clinical research studies, including site identification, activation, training, enrollment, data quality, and study closure.
- Understand and navigate US FDA regulations and ICH GCP guidelines for clinical trials.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of clinical sites to assess investigators’ interests and capabilities.
- Represent Medtronic in the operating room during challenging procedures and in physician offices for patient testing and data collection.
- Develop and leverage relationships in the field to drive clinical activity and maintain customer focus.
- Provide prospective and real-time feedback to clinical study management on study design, product performance, and document development.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering Design and Management, Biomedical, Industrial, or a related engineering field.
- Two (2) years of experience as an electrophysiology clinical specialist or in a sales/service/engineering role in the Cardiac Rhythm or Implantable Medical Device Industry.
- Two (2) years of experience supporting CRM products and training physicians and employees on new products, surgical procedures, and techniques.
- Two (2) years of experience operating VIP/VIP II and CAE micra-implant simulators.
- Two (2) years of experience supporting clinical research studies.
- Two (2) years of experience in preparation for CRM participation to Public Tenders and CE Mark regulations.
- Two (2) years of experience with device algorithm and clinical relevancy related to Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED).
- Two (2) years of experience with patient testing and data collection in the operating room and physician office.
- Two (2) years of experience with clinical study management in study design, product performance, and document development.
- Two (2) years of experience with 12 lead EKG rhythm interpretation.
- Willing and able to travel up to 80% within the assigned territory (Chicago metro area, IL, Northwest Indiana) and up to 5% nationally.
- Must work remotely from a home office within the greater Chicago metro area.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

Work Mode
This role operates locally within the Chicago Metro, North and South Illinois, and Northwest Indiana territory. You will work remotely from a home office in the greater Chicago metro area and travel up to 80% within the assigned region.
