Responsibilities
- Delivers high-level engineering support for telecom equipment installation and maintenance, including hands-on field operations.
- Consults on, evaluates, designs, and implements technical solutions to integrate telecommunications with NOSC using SolarWinds and ServiceNow.
- Investigates equipment issues and collaborates with field staff, contractors, and vendors to resolve problems, including supervising union employees when necessary.
- Ensures seamless integration of new equipment by managing training, spare parts, test tools, safety protocols, and developing maintenance and operational procedures.
- Prepares and submits engineering studies and requests to address issues found in maintenance and testing reports, ensuring follow-through on corrective actions.
- Creates and updates technical documentation for preventive maintenance programs, with a focus on personnel safety and compliance with new or upgraded systems.
- Maintains accurate records of circuits and circuit layouts using Net Terrain or equivalent online systems in line with telecom documentation standards.
- Supports supervisory tasks including budgeting, meetings, reporting, as-built updates, and training; serves as instructor when qualified and substitutes for supervisor when needed.
- Offers technical engineering support for the setup, operation, and maintenance of Energy Management Systems and related electronic systems.
- Executes diagnostic tests and evaluates malfunctions in EMS components such as front-end processors, modems, RTUs, power supplies, relays, and meters.
- Proposes and carries out equipment modifications, collects performance data, and conducts failure analysis to enhance system reliability.
- Develops and reviews procedures for testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and alignment, and interprets test results.
- Designs diagnostics and implements hardware testing tools for digital printed circuit boards.
- Coordinates with internal departments, external partners, customers, and manufacturers; supports engineering teams on special initiatives.
- Stays current with emerging technologies and applies relevant advancements to existing EMS and communications infrastructure.
- Takes part in assigned emergency response efforts, including preparedness activities as directed by the company.
