Lead engineers and shape the backbone of client integrations by combining technical depth with team leadership. You'll be responsible for guiding a high-performing engineering team while remaining deeply involved in system design, API development, and performance optimization. This role demands a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on implementation, with about half your time spent coding.
What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers building core integration features and external-facing APIs
- Drive technical direction for backend systems, focusing on scalability, reliability, and speed
- Design efficient data flows and improve database performance, primarily using PostgreSQL
- Integrate with diverse third-party platforms and services to expand platform capabilities
- Translate business and product needs into clean, maintainable code and system architecture
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical and customer-facing issues
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and measurable impact
- Collaborate across functions to align engineering outcomes with business goals
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong foundation in backend development
- At least 2 years managing engineering teams full-time, including hiring and career development
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver under tight constraints
- Deep experience with Python, cloud infrastructure, and serverless architectures (Lambda, EC2)
- Solid understanding of relational databases and query optimization
- Skill in balancing technical tradeoffs while maintaining velocity and quality
- A mindset of continuous experimentation, rapid iteration, and data-driven decisions
- Clear, proactive communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Background
- Experience working with large language models or generative AI systems
- Background in distributed systems and high-scale service design
