Durham University Department of Computer Science is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support the delivery of Level-1 English Studies modules. In this role, you will facilitate student learning through tutorials and provide essential academic feedback.
What You'll Do
- Deliver tutorial teaching for Level-1 modules across the Michaelmas and Epiphany terms.
- Provide written feedback on one formative essay submitted by students in the Michaelmas term.
- Hold office hours for Level-1 modules, totaling one hour per week of teaching.
What We're Looking For
- You must be a postgraduate research student in your second or later year of a programme within the Department of English Studies at Durham University.
Nice to Have
- Outstanding part-time teachers who are no longer registered students but have recent experience of teaching within the Department.
Team & Environment
Tutorial groups will normally consist of 15-17 students. Teaching Assistants will have the support of a teaching mentor and the Director of Undergraduate Studies. You will report to the Department Manager.
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly rate of £17.16 to £20.71 (Grade 6, spine point 22-29, as at 1st August 2025), dependent upon the number of years of teaching in the Department already undertaken.

This is an onsite position based in Durham.
