About the Role

ATCO Frontec is looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to take on a wide variety of taxation issues and financial reporting responsibilities. You will be instrumental in ensuring regulatory compliance, developing team capability, and contributing to strategic tax planning within a dynamic corporate environment.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure compliance with all tax-related regulatory requirements, including income and commodity tax returns, withholding tax, elections, and financial reporting
  • Mentor and develop junior staff to build technical capability, confidence, and consistency across the tax function
  • Prepare complex tax provision working papers and assist with the preparation of variance analysis and consolidated financial statement notes
  • Liaise with ATCO Group Finance personnel on tax related matters, including monthly reporting, budget and planning
  • Serve as the main point of contact for income tax reporting and other issues from various ATCO Subsidiaries
  • Prepare complex income tax returns, including a select few US returns
  • Review and update internal control and process documentation
  • Communicate with internal, external and tax authority auditors
  • Use research, interpretation and analytical skills to assist the Tax Manager and Tax Director with development and implementation of various tax planning projects
  • Keep ATCO Group up to date on recent tax legislation and interpretation

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, or a related program
  • 8+ years of related experience, including corporate income tax
  • Completion of the CPA/CICA in-depth tax course
  • A professional Canadian accounting designation (CPA)
  • Must have experience with preparation of tax provision and tax returns
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects with deadlines
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Focus on accurate, high-quality work and continual improvement
  • Proven analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Familiarity with TaxPrep tax return preparation software

Nice to Have

  • Experience with US tax is a definite asset
  • Previous experience within a tax function of a large corporation, or public practice with sophisticated client base is an asset
