Horizon Recovery is hiring a Tax Preparer who is a licensed CPA to support our tax compliance work. This execution-driven role focuses on preparing accurate tax returns, managing IRS correspondence, and maintaining meticulous documentation in a remote environment.
What You'll Do
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and business entities.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance for all filings.
- Assist with tax planning by identifying deductions, credits, and compliance issues.
- Research tax regulations as needed to support return preparation.
- Support IRS resolution matters, including notices and documentation requests.
- Maintain organized workpapers and tax records.
- Use Lacerte for tax preparation and Canopy for workflow and document management.
- Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders regarding missing data or tax issues.
- Stay current on changes in tax laws and filing requirements.
What We're Looking For
- CPA license required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation or related tax roles.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple returns and deadlines, especially during peak season.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- IRS tax resolution experience preferred.
- Prior experience with Lacerte tax preparation software preferred.

Benefits & Compensation
