Brussels Airport is looking for a Senior System Engineer (Cloud) to join our Technology & Infrastructure team. You will be responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and optimizing the hybrid IT infrastructure and data center services that are critical to supporting our 24/7 business and airport operations.
What You'll Do
- Design, install, maintain, and improve ICT infrastructure and data center environments.
- Install software, new applications, and enhancements to existing systems.
- Study, develop, and implement optimizations and structural improvements.
- Monitor problems, manage incidents, and implement effective solutions.
- Monitor the availability, performance, and capacity of environments, developing capacity plans.
- Document and establish installation, configuration, and management procedures.
- Test and adjust existing procedures or develop new ones.
- Continuously ensure, monitor, and optimize ICT infrastructure security in collaboration with security managers.
- Advise on and independently carry out renewal and migration projects.
- Participate in project teams as a specialist in ICT infrastructure and integration.
- Control compliance with operational requirements and perform operational tests.
- Support ICT colleagues and other departments in 24/7 operational management and project execution, handling second-line problem follow-up.
- Provide effective, quality assistance to end-users and customers.
- Follow developments in ICT technology and airport development.
- Keep your knowledge current through specific training courses, workshops, or seminars.
- Consult with the team leader and advise on ICT strategy to support critical success factors.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree level of knowledge or equivalent through experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- General knowledge of business processes.
- Experience in monitoring and managing projects.
- In-depth knowledge of ICT fundamentals, architecture, and systems applied in modern data centers, including: high availability architecture; core components like server technology, storage, backup, and data center networking; cloud computing solutions (AWS and Azure basics); ICT infrastructure security; monitoring and audit; identity management (Azure Active Directory, GPO); core networking and secure data connections; virtualization; automation and configuration management.
- Knowledge of process design according to ITIL and experience implementing projects in data centers.
- Strong communication skills and a belief in the importance of up-to-date, structured documentation.
- Basic oral knowledge of the second national language and oral/written knowledge of English.
