About the Role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a Surgical/Scrub Tech specializing in Urology and Plastics to join our team. In this professional role, you will coordinate care needs with surgeons, nurses, and other team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. You will be responsible for assembling supplies, setting up sterile fields, passing instruments, and preparing the operating room.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for assigned cases.
  • Prepare the operating room for upcoming cases and ensure it is case-ready for the following day.
  • Clean, arrange, and transport instruments to the soiled workroom according to department policy.
  • Assist with instrument reprocessing tasks independently when assigned cases are completed.
  • Exhibit practical knowledge of OR equipment, including its maintenance and safety aspects.
  • Utilize available communication tools and demonstrate teamwork by assisting other team members.
  • Share knowledge, information, and expertise with other staff.
  • Attend departmental in-services and educational offerings, consistently applying new knowledge and skills in practice.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn new techniques.

What We're Looking For

  • High School GED or formal educational equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Scrub Technologist school/program or 2 years of experience as a surgical technologist.
  • Ability to follow oral instruction and to read and write.

Nice to Have

  • Scrub Tech Certification.
