About the Role

General Motors is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team. You will play a critical role in ensuring our suppliers meet stringent quality standards and support successful vehicle launches. This position is key to implementing robust quality systems, resolving issues, and driving continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure supplier understanding and compliance with APQP processes and PPAP submission and approval requirements.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation, including Control Plans and PFMEAs.
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems for alignment with company standards.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for supplier-related quality issues.
  • Conduct on-site supplier visits to verify root cause and effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Implement and monitor supplier part qualification and certification processes (PPAP, Run at Rate).
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives at supplier sites through workshops and technical assistance.
  • Provide technical support during supplier launch, change-over, and ongoing production.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the automotive industry.
  • Intermediate level of English proficiency.
  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other quality-related methodologies.
  • Experience working with automotive suppliers or in a vehicle launch environment.
  • Familiarity with global supplier management and international quality standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing and assembly plant processes, procedures, tooling, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical quality control, probability, and design of experiments.
  • Availability to travel up to 50%, including regular visits to suppliers in the Colima region.

  • Proven ability to investigate quality problems and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in print reading, part measurement, and gage design/function.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%.

This is a remote position based in Colima, Mexico.
