The Quality Engineer is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining an effective Quality Management System at the Brits Manufacturing plant and Isando & Durban OE Sales & Warehousing locations. This includes adherence to ISO 9001, ISO TS/16949, and OEM-specific requirements, conducting internal and external audits, managing corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, and maintain an effective Quality Management System
- Develop and maintain documented quality processes aligned with ISO 9001, ISO TS/16949, and OEM standards
- Ensure company-specific quality standards are fully implemented
- Manage the centralized document control system on the U:/ drive at the Brits plant
- Maintain the Quality Management System on the company intranet and P:/ drive
- Coordinate integrated quality management processes, including FMEA, process mapping, and control plans in line with OEM requirements
- Ensure compliance with corporate record retention policies and Metro file systems
- Maintain records of quality system and OEM-related documentation
- Monitor, download, file, and communicate updates from relevant regulatory and OEM websites
- Track updates from the International Automotive Oversight Bureau, ISO, and OEM portals
- Coordinate certification-related quotes, invoices, and payments
- Plan, schedule, and conduct process, product, and system audits per ISO, TS, company, and OEM standards
- Ensure the quality system meets DQS and OEM audit criteria
- Serve as the primary representative for the Quality Systems department during external audits
- Support the Laboratory Manager in vendor audits
- Conduct vendor audits when the Laboratory Manager is unavailable
- Organize audit logistics, including functional coordination and transportation for external audits
- Train new quality systems auditors prior to their formal qualification
- Identify training needs within the Quality Systems team
- Develop training materials and deliver quality systems training programs
- Conduct quality systems induction sessions for new personnel
- Promote awareness of quality principles and customer requirements across the organization
- Maintain an up-to-date qualification matrix for auditors
- Manage the validity and renewal of auditor certifications
- Participate in training committee meetings
Requirements
- Diploma in Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent qualification
- Strong understanding of Quality Management System requirements
- Certified ISO 9001 and ISO TS auditor
- Minimum of three years of prior experience in quality roles
- Experience in quality systems management
- Experience with OEM APQP requirements
- Experience in quality systems administration
- Experience delivering training programs

- Must conduct incident and accident investigations and issue corrective action requests (CAR)
- Must ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards
