The City of Saskatoon is hiring a Supervisor VI to lead Roadways crews undertaking winter road, sidewalk, and back lane operations and maintenance. This is a permanent winter seasonal position where you will ensure safe, efficient service delivery for our community.
What You'll Do
- Supervise, train, direct, and evaluate staff engaged in the operations and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and back lanes.
- Ensure work activities are performed according to approved standards and procedures for quality, service levels, and public and crew safety.
- Maintain comprehensive records and monitor and report work progress daily.
- Ensure crews complete required forms and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Enforce all policies and procedures with staff, including safety, hours of work, and respectful workplace policies.
- Plan work for Roadways crews based on requirements and available resources.
- Collaborate with internal groups in the planning, scheduling, and reporting of work completed by Roadways crews.
- Investigate and record actions taken in response to emerging issues on streets, sidewalks, and back lanes impacting safety and mobility.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Grade 12 education or equivalent program or credential.
- Five years’ experience in winter road, sidewalk, and back lane maintenance, including understanding of basic equipment operation and maintenance.
- Three years’ supervisory experience.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid certificate.
- Successful completion, or ability to complete, supervisory courses.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinates.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, lead, and encourage staff to develop skills and work towards organizational goals.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to follow all applicable procedures, policies, legislation, regulations, standards, and specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to regularly and consistently attend work to ensure effective operations and service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the team, the public, contractors, and all civic employees.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current methods, materials, work practices, and equipment related to summer and winter Roadways operations and maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate logistics for Roadways operations and maintenance.
- Knowledge of related engineering terminology and techniques.
- Knowledge of Service Levels for Street Cleaning and Sweeping, Snow and Ice Management, and Road Maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply the technical skills required for this position.
- Ability to coach crew members to enhance their work performance, resolve conflicts, and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment to accomplish work objectives and adapt to and implement changes.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Knowledge and experience with ERP systems and Microsoft 365 apps.

Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $39.27 CAD per hour (2026 rates)
