Puget Sound Energy is seeking a Supervisor Merchant Transmission to lead the team responsible for our Merchant Transmission portfolio. This role is accountable for results across all operational time horizons, from long-term strategic planning to real-time delivery. You will ensure reliable, cost-effective transmission operations and acquire capacity and rights aligned with PSE's strategic objectives.
What You'll Do
- Provide employees with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and build effective teams.
- Demonstrate a passion for safety, promote a culture of total safety, conduct safety audits and inspections, and attend safety meetings.
- Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance and safety goals.
- Oversee training and development of employees and make effective staffing decisions.
- Conduct and ensure the completion of performance reviews.
- Develop and implement long-term transmission strategies aligned with PSE's resource planning objectives.
- Manage merchant transmission rights and capacity optimization across multiple time horizons.
- Oversee transmission contract negotiations and asset integration activities.
- Monitor and analyze transmission market fundamentals and pricing trends.
- Manage relationships and contracts with BPA and other transmission providers.
- Implement transmission strategies across PSE's operations in coordination with other departments.
- Work collaboratively with Electric Resource Planning, Resource Acquisition, Energy Resource Development, Major Projects, PSE Transmission, Accounting, Risk Control and Regulatory Affairs.
- Lead merchant transmission strategy implementation across business units.
- Provide merchant transmission and generator interconnection expertise and guidance to support organizational objectives including self-development of new generating resources and assessment of project proposals for All Source RFPs.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with a technical or commercial focus from an accredited 4-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
- Proven record of accomplishment in power and/or natural gas trading.
- Knowledge of financial and accounting principals.
- Minimum of four years experience in energy trading or operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to interact with all levels of a corporation.
Nice to Have
- 6 years in transmission operations, planning, or energy trading.
- 4 years experience with BPA and regional transmission providers.
- Knowledge of transmission planning processes and interconnection procedures.
