Carilion Clinic is seeking a Summer Internship - Receptionist Clerk for the 8 Crystal Spring Tower Intensive Care Unit (8 CST ICU). This internship provides hands-on healthcare experience supporting departmental operations. You will serve as the front-line receptionist for the nursing unit while completing assigned duties and projects under supervision.

What You'll Do

• Work under the supervision of a department leader or designee to complete assigned duties.
• Assist with operational, administrative, or professional tasks aligned with department needs and your academic program.
• Observe, document, and communicate work progress, findings, or issues to the supervising leader or team.
• Interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Participate in staff meetings, project meetings, and interdisciplinary discussions as requested.
• Proactively seek out learning opportunities, manage time effectively, and appropriately prioritize assignments.
• Follow all organizational policies, procedures, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements.
• Serve as the front line to receive and greet patients and visitors for the Nursing Unit.
• Answer calls made to the nursing department and answer questions or forward to the appropriate area.
• Receive mail and distribute to appropriate personnel for processing.
• Assist nursing staff with data entry as needed.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Two years of High School required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Good interpersonal, organizational, communication, and listening skills.
• Manual dexterity and visual perception.
• Job requires good hearing, clear understandable speech, and good finger dexterity.
