The Summer Camp Site Director leads a dynamic summer camp for K–8th grade students in San Jose as part of Galileo Learning’s Galileo X program. This seasonal role spans from February to September 2026 and involves launching and managing a Camp Galileo location, leading a team of educators, ensuring camper safety, and delivering exceptional family experiences. The Site Director serves as both the operational leader and public face of the camp, overseeing daily operations, staff development, and community partnerships.
What You'll Do
- Infuse camp with joy, tradition, and creativity
- Build an inclusive environment where every camper, staff member, and family feels seen, supported, and inspired
- Own every aspect of the camp’s launch from preseason planning through end-of-summer wrap-up
- Oversee daily camp operations and parent communication
- Deliver an exceptional program with focus on customer care, curriculum, and team leadership
- Prioritize camper safety and family trust at all times
- Anticipate needs, adapt quickly, and problem-solve on the fly to ensure camp runs seamlessly
- Train and mentor a staff of 10–40
- Provide clear expectations for instructional and program standards
- Provide ongoing feedback and professional development to staff
- Handle core management responsibilities such as staffing, scheduling, and payroll
- Use the Galileo Innovation Approach (GIA) to encourage curiosity and problem-solving
- Lead the team in turning challenges into opportunities
- Keep spirit and operations aligned to Galileo’s mission
- Serve as the primary face of camp
- Communicate proactively with families, facilities partners, and HQ support teams
- Collaborate with the Field Program Manager
- Cultivate trust with community partners, staff, and campers
- Assess and adjust program operations to align with the unique needs, goals, and context of the assigned site
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement tailored strategies that enhance effectiveness and ensure relevance

- Camp Season (June–Aug): $1,450/week (full-time, exempt)

- Bonus: $1 per camper-week enrollment; potential commission for add-on weeks
Work Mode
- Location: San Jose
- Phase One (Feb–June/July): mostly flexible and remote with some required in-person commitments
- Phase Two (June–August): on-site 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, M-F
- Phase Three (Aug–Sept): remote
