Position OverviewProvide dedicated clinical care as a Substance Abuse Counselor within a youth residential setting in Indianapolis. This role focuses on supporting individuals aged 16 to 24 through evidence-based counseling, education, and ongoing behavioral support in a structured living environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use recovery and personal development
- Design and lead prevention-focused workshops on alcohol, drug, and tobacco use
- Engage with youth in residential spaces including dorms, dining areas, and recreational zones to foster trust and consistent support
- Work alongside program leaders and clinical staff to align care strategies and ensure continuity
- Support skill-building in decision-making, emotional regulation, and relapse prevention
- Respond to behavioral or emotional crises with appropriate intervention techniques
- Create personalized case plans that support student retention and holistic wellness
- Ensure all clinical records are completed accurately and maintained in compliance with privacy regulations
- Adhere to ethical standards and legal requirements, including HIPAA and state-level confidentiality guidelines
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a current Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Consultant (CADAC) credential issued by the State of Indiana. At least one year of direct experience delivering substance use or behavioral health services to youth or young adults is required.
A degree from an accredited institution—preferably an associate’s or bachelor’s—is strongly preferred. Demonstrated commitment to youth development and recovery support is essential.
