American University's Student-Athlete Support Program (SASP) is hiring a Student-Athlete Tutor to provide free, virtual one-on-one peer tutoring. In this role, you will build and reinforce academic skills for student-athletes in historically challenging courses, model effective study habits, and equip them to succeed independently.
What You'll Do
- Provide virtual one-on-one tutoring, determined by course and student needs.
- Adequately prepare for tutoring sessions by completing the SASP Canvas tutorial course.
- Complete post-session notes outlining content covered, progress made, and/or challenges encountered.
- Accurately complete timesheets in a timely manner.
What We're Looking For
- Enrollment in a degree program at American University.
- Maintenance of a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
- Demonstrate course mastery by receiving an A or A- in the course you support.
- Willingness to work with diverse populations of faculty, staff, and students.
- Demonstrate excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in professional team environments.
- Possess strong organizational skills and experience in basic office management.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to maintain an appropriate degree of confidentiality.
- Possess intermediate computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite.
