Fehr Graham, a Trilon Group company, is hiring a Structures Engineer to develop structural calculations and engineering drawings for bridge and transportation structures. You will work on both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects, perform engineering investigations, and support construction phases.
What You'll Do
- Develop structural calculations and produce engineering drawings for bridge and transportation structures.
- Perform and direct engineering alternatives investigations through data collection, analysis, and evaluation.
- Prepare written technical reports.
- Support the construction phase by responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
- Train and mentor junior engineers.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer.
- 0 – 5 years post-PE registration structural engineering experience.
- 4+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience.
- Experience using bridge design software like FB Multi-Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, and the FDOT MathCAD analysis worksheets.
- Proficiency in Microstation, GEOPAK, OpenBridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or CADD platforms.
- Familiarity with the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
- Ability to guide junior staff and participate in the design of small- to large-scale bridge projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
- Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
- Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history.
Nice to Have
- Masters (MSE/MSCE) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- PE and/or SE certification in North Carolina or the ability to obtain North Carolina Registration.
- Familiarity with the NCDOT Structures Manual and NCDOT Construction Specifications.
- Ability to do 3D modeling in OpenBridge Modeler.
- Construction specialty engineering experience.
- Experience with post-tensioning applications.
