Parsons is looking for a Structural Inspector to supervise and inspect structural works on a major project. In this role, you will ensure all work is performed in accordance with contract specifications while contributing to a culture that values people, embraces agility, and fosters growth.
What You'll Do
- Conduct inspections to determine if work complies with contract specifications.
- Perform inspection activities for the demolition and construction of structures like reservoirs, lifting stations, tunnels, and bridges.
- Maintain office files, perform quantity calculations, and write daily diaries.
- Prepare daily reports and other required contract documentation.
- Verify only approved materials are incorporated into the work.
- Perform labor compliance interviews and maintain as-built plans.
- Recognize potential conflicts and issues, identify solutions, and advise your supervisor.
- Collect, review, and file Certificates of Compliance, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), inspection tags, and other material information.
- Report on installed quantities to verify payment applications and change order work.
- Coordinate the work of subconsultants for surveying and material testing.
- Assist with developing job safety practices and reports.
- Support the creation of quality control procedures and reports.
- Respond to call backs for emergencies at the project site.
- Document nonconformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolutions.
- May provide technical guidance to lower-level inspectors.
- Perform work in a safe manner, cognizant of public safety.
What We're Looking For
- A diploma or bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience working as a structural inspector within the region.
- Knowledge of public works contracts and construction-related processes.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Effective math skills, including knowledge of engineering calculations, graphs, and charts.
- Knowledge of basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Project Management Software, and internet search engines.
- Ability to understand and comply with project requirements per client and industry standards.
- Effective diary and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of English grammar and composition.
- Understanding of scheduling.
- Ability to review progress pay estimates and extra work bills.
- Ability to recognize hazardous work conditions and take necessary action.
- Effective time management skills to proactively prepare for work assignments.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work cohesively in a team and/or dynamic work environment.
- Ability to use good judgement and work with others.
Nice to Have
- Authority certification/approvals in a related field and HSE training.
- Construction safety training, including 10 hours of OSHA training.
