AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer with experience in hyperscale and colocation data center facility design to join our growing Data Center practice. This is a hands-on, client-facing role with an opportunity for upward career mobility, working on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects for global clients.
What You'll Do
- Perform structural design and analysis for multiple data center buildings, including hyperscale and colocation type facilities.
- Develop design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing systems, and deep and shallow foundations.
- Coordinate design deliverables with architectural, civil, MEP, and construction teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and client standards.
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and calculations, ensuring quality, code compliance, and technical excellence.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Engage with clients, contractors, and review authorities to address technical queries and design clarifications.
- Support business development, proposal writing, and conceptual structural design for new pursuits.
- Travel, as needed, for project-related activities such as client meetings and site visits.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Licensed U.S. Professional Engineer (PE or SE).
- 5+ years of professional experience in building structures design and analysis.
- Experience specifically in data center, mission critical, or large scale logistics/industrial facilities.
- Experience with BIM ACC (Revit), ETABS, RISA, RAM, SAP2000, Safe, etc.
- Experience with precast concrete systems, steel design, seismic design, and foundation systems.
- Demonstrated experience with low embodied carbon materials and sustainable structural design approaches.
Nice to Have
- 3+ years of experience with data center facilities and familiarity with data center specific design standards and structural resiliency requirements.
- LEED, Envision, or active leader in SE 2050 implementation.
- Expertise in low embodied carbon materials, sustainable structural systems, and emerging industry best practices.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
- Ability to interpret and apply national and local building codes.
