Shape the backbone of a global network infrastructure
As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer on the Fabric team, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining a highly available, secure, and scalable network fabric that powers services across multiple cloud providers. Your work will directly influence how systems communicate, ensuring performance, reliability, and security at scale.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement resilient, multi-cloud network architectures that support MongoDB’s distributed services
- Work closely with engineering teams to improve service connectivity, offering guidance on networking best practices and troubleshooting complex issues
- Respond to incidents as part of a rotating on-call schedule, focusing on rapid resolution of network and connectivity challenges
- Drive automation to reduce manual intervention, prioritizing long-term solutions over reactive fixes
- Apply deep knowledge of networking protocols and cloud networking constructs to solve real-world scalability problems
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering or operations with distributed systems
- Strong command of networking technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, TLS/mTLS, BGP, overlays, and SDN concepts
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP—especially in areas like VPCs, routing, peering, and private connectivity
- Familiarity with service mesh, load balancing, and Kubernetes in production environments
- A mindset oriented toward automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Ability to support internal teams with practical, user-focused solutions that enhance system reliability
