Boulay is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will assist clients with their internal accounting needs by performing and reviewing a variety of diversified tasks, helping them manage daily operations and meet their reporting requirements.
What You'll Do
- Manage daily transaction accounting activities including bank reconciliations, inventory management, accruals, prepaids, equity accounting, and accounts receivable/payable.
- Process or assist with processing payroll under review.
- Manage critical client deadlines.
- Prepare complex sales and use tax returns and prepare or assist to prepare financial statements.
- Prepare and review 1099 filings.
- Maintain accounting records through data entry and file management, including the chart of accounts and fixed assets.
- Discuss and explain transactions and processes with clients.
- Identify and recognize potential risks, concerns, or issues regarding the client file.
- Ensure compliance and adherence to relevant reporting requirements.
- Work cross-departmentally with other Boulay departments to effectively accomplish projects and tasks.
- Identify issues and communicate status updates with appropriate team members or Partners.
- Develop an understanding of the client’s business practices.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's Degree in Accounting.
- 2+ years of related accounting experience.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in various accounting and other software, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of all areas of the general ledger, along with reconciliations and month-end/year-end close procedures.
- Knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to drive client and team meetings.
- Ability to creatively solve problems and analyze client data.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Experience with QuickBooks (desktop or online) and/or other general ledger software.
