Role and Responsibilities As a Senior Staff Physical Design Engineer, you'll own one or more blocks from RTL to GDS – managing everything from floorplan and synthesis to placement, clock tree synthesis, and routing. Your mission: drive design convergence while hitting ambitious performance, power, and area (PPA) targets. • Solve block-level congestion and timing challenges, meeting project milestones without compromising design quality • Work closely with internal CAD and Physical Design methodology teams to adopt cutting-edge synthesis and place-and-route tool features • Collaborate with RTL/Feasibility teams, providing critical feedback and advancing physical design initiatives • Leverage robust debugging skills to challenge existing methodologies and continuously optimize design flows • Consistently deliver work that exceeds expectations for frequency, power, and area requirements Skills and Qualifications • 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/relevant technical field, or 8+ years with a Master's, or 6+ years with a PhD • Expert-level proficiency in Synopsys or Cadence P&R toolsets, including Fusion Compiler, Genus, and Innovus • Deep expertise in physical verification and STA toolsets with comprehensive understanding of physical design methodologies • Exceptional scripting/programming skills in TCL, Perl, Shell, and/or Python • Experience with sub-5nm technology nodes and low-power design methodologies • Outstanding communication skills with ability to provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams Our Team We're building a world-class team of diverse talents to architect groundbreaking technology. Total Rewards At Samsung – SARC/ACL, compensation is holistic. The base pay range for this role spans $180,200 to $270,400, with actual compensation reflecting your unique skills, qualifications, and experience. Full-time employees are also eligible for performance-based MBO bonus compensation. Additional potential benefits include long-term incentive plans and relocation support.
