Twilio is seeking a Sr Manager, Solutions Engineering to serve as the technical leader for a team of Solutions Engineers within its Communications business. Reporting to the Solutions Engineering Director, APJ, you will be responsible for managing the team's development, performance, and operating model. You'll support the go-to-market organization and large global companies across industries like marketing, business automation, and customer care.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Sales leadership to set strategy for finding, closing, and supporting opportunities in the sales funnel and existing customer base.
- Work across functions to ensure collaboration for shared goals and appropriate capacity for your team.
- Build and roll out programs that enable Solutions Engineers to scalably accelerate the sales funnel.
- Attract, develop, and motivate a team of Solutions Engineers, continually educating them and seeking innovative solutions for improvement.
- Ensure the team has the support they need to be successful, providing direct mentoring and guidance.
- Lead the technical strategy, determine the role of Solutions Engineers in accelerating new sign-ups, and deploy the team effectively.
- Measure and communicate results, using data to make decisions.
- Set clear expectations for your team, remove obstacles, and actively communicate tradeoffs to stakeholders.
- Engage with Product, Support, Sales, Operations, Legal, Security, Engineering, and other departments to make customers successful.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of relevant work experience within the SaaS or CPaaS industry, inclusive of a BS in Computer Science or equivalent software engineering experience.
- 3+ years of previous people leadership experience or equivalent experience as a senior individual contributor / lead.
- Proven track record of building high performance teams and leading by example.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate strategic vision, inspire and influence others internally and externally at all organizational levels.
- A hands-on approach to problem solving, ready to handle customer blocking issues and work opportunities directly alongside your team.
- A strong understanding of the developer adoption cycle, and experience in technology areas relevant to Twilio's market: contact centre, IP-based telephony, messaging, real-time communications, security, authentication, email, scaling web and mobile applications.
- Tech-savvy leader with experience with cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and cloud application architecture.
- Experience with sales methodologies.
- Comfortable with ambiguity with a proven ability to proactively solve problems.
Nice to Have
- Cross-functional experience in pre-sales or post-sales technical consulting, software engineering, or product management is a plus.
