Role Overview
CrowdStrike is seeking a Senior Manager, Applied Research to lead and architect the research strategy for applying AI to cybersecurity. This role involves managing and mentoring a team of top-tier data scientists, driving innovation in AI applications using large language models (LLMs) and deep learning, and contributing to production systems at scale. The position operates remotely in the UK, Spain, or Romania within a dynamic, growth-oriented environment focused on groundbreaking developments in cybersecurity AI.
Responsibilities
- Lead and architect the research strategy for applying AI to cybersecurity.
- Recruit, lead, and mentor a team of data scientists specializing in machine learning and LLMs.
- Drive innovation in AI applications, including reasoning, summarization, and interactivity.
- Contribute code from proof-of-concept to production-ready systems operating at massive scale.
- Make strategic decisions on generative AI and deep learning model architectures, training, and deployment.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with senior leadership.
- Represent technical excellence through publications and thought leadership.
- Establish best practices, technical standards, and evaluation frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PhD or Masters) in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
- 8+ years of applied machine learning or research experience with production-grade models.
- Proven leadership in managing data science teams.
- Deep expertise in LLMs, deep learning training, fine-tuning, and deployment at scale.
- Strong technical leadership, mentoring, and strategic decision-making skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Python, deep learning frameworks, cloud technologies, and GPU optimization.
- Excellent communication and influence with senior stakeholders.
- Track record solving complex technical challenges at scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Publications in leading AI journals or conferences.
- Experience with cybersecurity applications of machine learning.
- Successful research-to-production implementations at scale.
