Mercury Insurance Services, LLC is seeking a Sr Data Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will work across various functional areas including Underwriting, Claims, Marketing, and Advertising, applying statistical concepts and tools to extract valuable information that drives process efficiency and product design.
What You'll Do
- Analyze data to identify issues and opportunities across different business areas.
- Create statistical models to generate insights on business issues and provide actionable suggestions.
- Lead small-scope project work and ad hoc analyses.
- Work with and mentor junior analysts, providing training and support.
- Lead discussions with colleagues regarding analysis needs and review results with stakeholders.
- Retrieve data from various sources, prepare it for analysis, and review for accuracy.
- Prepare reports, graphs, and charts based on research and analyses.
- Analyze algorithms using intermediate SAS programming and MS Excel.
- Create procedures to streamline analysis processes and provide suggestions for improvements.
- Develop presentations, spreadsheets, and tools to share findings with management.
- Focus on competitive analysis for personal lines products, including data ingestion, scrubbing, and analysis.
- Create robust dashboards and reports to share competitive position insights with cross-functional teams.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in an analytical concentration such as math, statistics, economics, data science, or engineering.
- 5-7 years of experience in property & casualty insurance analytics, product development, competitive intelligence, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong experience with SQL (Redshift, PostgreSQL), DBT, Github, and Python.
- Knowledge of statistics and general model building/validation procedures.
- Experience with BI & Reporting Tools.
- Intermediate-level skills in MS Excel and MS Access.
- Strong data skills and ability to work with massive datasets.
- Good problem-solving, analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Master's Degree.
- Github version-control experience.
- Experience with machine learning.
- Knowledge of SAS, SPSS, and/or other statistical software.
