Responsibilities
- Provide evaluations, treatment plans, education and training to meet the cognitive, communication and swallowing needs of patients.
- Work alongside the Pediatric Physiatrist in a multidisciplinary environment to provide intensive function-based therapy in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.
- Implement a systematic patient examination and evaluation utilizing a comprehensive, patient and family-centered approach to decision making incorporating national standards and the AMA CPT codes upon receiving a licensed independent practitioner referral.
- Design, develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address presenting symptoms or concerns of a communication and/or swallowing problem or related functional issue to optimize function.
- Make appropriate discharge plans by collaborating with patients, their families, care management, and community resources such as schools/outside therapy clinics.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary meetings.
- Support risk management and compliance initiatives through accurate thorough documentation.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Masters degree in Speech Pathology
- SLP license in state of Texas
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC's)
Nice to Have
- 1 year experience in a pediatric setting
- Bilingual English/Spanish
