About the Role

Rocky Mountain Classical Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher/Case Manager to join our educational team. You'll work collaboratively with students who have diverse learning needs, providing tailored support and resources to enhance their academic and social development.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in resource settings and general education classrooms.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure success.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement.
  • Design, implement, and support programming to maximize functional educational outcomes in reading, writing, and math.
  • Provide consultation to regular education, special education, support staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Establish and maintain confidential records of screenings, evaluations, and progress towards goals.
  • Deliver interventions to all levels with direct, explicit instruction.
  • Develop and coordinate behavior management plans.
  • Participate on a multi-disciplinary team to identify students K-8 with learning disabilities.
  • Train and oversee paraprofessionals.
  • Advocate for students' needs and ensure their rights under IDEA.
  • Keep current on Federal and State special education laws and procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Colorado license/teaching certification in Special Education (alternate licensure accepted).
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal relation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students with special needs.
  • Strong organizational, time management, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions and perform responsibilities without close supervision.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers and common software applications including Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as data management systems.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree preferred.
