Pleasantdale School District #107 is hiring an EL Teacher to provide instruction to students identified as English Learners. You will monitor student progress, ensure access to grade-level content, and serve as a language resource across the school community. This position reports to Administration.
What You'll Do
- Administer and analyze identification screeners to determine student eligibility for language learning services.
- Conduct mandated English language proficiency assessments annually in line with state and district requirements.
- Monitor student language development and track ELP data for reporting.
- Collaborate with school and district teams on identification and assessment practices.
- Co-plan with colleagues for effective instruction and assessment.
- Differentiate instruction for different language proficiency levels.
- Develop instructional approaches rooted in best practices of Culturally Responsive, Relevant, and Sustainable Pedagogy.
- Provide academic language instruction that gives students access to grade-level content.
- Collaborate with grade-level teachers to plan, differentiate, and scaffold instruction.
- Serve as a building and district resource for English language concerns.
- Communicate with multilingual families in their home language and share outreach strategies with colleagues.
- Support family engagement around school events and initiatives.
- Connect with stakeholders in ELL families' communities, such as community organizations and religious institutions.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with others.
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.

What We're Looking For
- A current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsements.
- The ability to read, write, and communicate orally in English.
- Proficiency in utilizing applicable technology to support performance responsibilities.
