Pleasantdale School District #107 was looking for an EL Teacher

Pleasantdale School District #107 is hiring an EL Teacher to provide instruction to students identified as English Learners. You will monitor student progress, ensure access to grade-level content, and serve as a language resource across the school community. This position reports to Administration.

What You'll Do

  • Administer and analyze identification screeners to determine student eligibility for language learning services.
  • Conduct mandated English language proficiency assessments annually in line with state and district requirements.
  • Monitor student language development and track ELP data for reporting.
  • Collaborate with school and district teams on identification and assessment practices.
  • Co-plan with colleagues for effective instruction and assessment.
  • Differentiate instruction for different language proficiency levels.
  • Develop instructional approaches rooted in best practices of Culturally Responsive, Relevant, and Sustainable Pedagogy.
  • Provide academic language instruction that gives students access to grade-level content.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teachers to plan, differentiate, and scaffold instruction.
  • Serve as a building and district resource for English language concerns.
  • Communicate with multilingual families in their home language and share outreach strategies with colleagues.
  • Support family engagement around school events and initiatives.
  • Connect with stakeholders in ELL families' communities, such as community organizations and religious institutions.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Maintain a record of dependability through consistent attendance, punctuality, and attention to work.
  • Understand and adapt to a variety of situations.
  • Maintain and exhibit general and personal safety practices.
  • Maintain stakeholder satisfaction.

What We're Looking For

  • A current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsements.
  • The ability to read, write, and communicate orally in English.
  • Proficiency in utilizing applicable technology to support performance responsibilities.
