Xceptor is hiring a Solutions Engineer

About the Role

Xceptor is looking for a Solutions Engineer to join our Tax Solutions Tribe. In this role, you will design, configure, and deliver production-grade solutions on the Xceptor platform to drive down time-to-value for customers. You will take ownership from specification through implementation and deployment, delivering high-quality work with increasing autonomy and supporting the evolution of our repeatable solutions portfolio.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver well-scoped features and technical tasks end-to-end, with support from senior engineers when needed.
  • Break work into small increments, keep PRs focused, and communicate progress and risks early.
  • Clarify requirements and constraints before building; ask questions early to avoid rework.
  • Build solutions that meet the tribe’s bar for correctness, maintainability, and operability.
  • Use AI routinely to accelerate delivery (analysis, testing, documentation) and validate AI-generated output.
  • Apply verification discipline appropriate to scope: unit tests, automated tests, edge cases, and basic threat considerations.
  • Contribute improvements to templates, data patterns, and workflows.
  • Configure robust, reusable solutions on the Xceptor platform.
  • Work effectively with SQL and structured/semi-structured data like XML, JSON, CSV, and Excel.
  • Produce automated tests aligned to the solution’s design and keep documentation current and accurate.
  • Build automated test cases for new functionality and fix issues quickly when identified.
  • Understand and follow safe release practices.
  • Collaborate effectively in a cross‑functional Scrum team.
  • Partner with other teams and stakeholders to identify high-value use cases that extend the solutions portfolio.
  • Share progress proactively, ask for help when needed, and support teammates.
  • Demonstrate continuous learning, adopt feedback quickly, and help create a positive, high-tempo team culture.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong logical and analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Hands‑on experience working with XML and SQL, with the ability to reason about data quality and transformation logic.
  • Comfortable working with CI/CD, code reviews, and automated testing practices.
  • Excellent technical communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to take solutions from specification through implementation and deployment with a strong quality and usability mindset.
  • Uses AI as a routine delivery partner to accelerate implementation and analysis, validating AI‑generated outputs through tests and review.
  • Follows established delivery patterns, templates, and guardrails to keep delivery fast, consistent, and safe.
  • Shows strong judgement about when to ask for support and incorporates feedback quickly.
  • Accountable and delivery‑focused; communicates clearly, early, and often.
  • Collaborative and receptive to feedback; actively contributes to a positive team culture.
  • Pragmatic and quality‑minded: balances pace with correctness, risk, and control.
  • Customer‑aware mindset suited to regulated, mission‑critical financial environments.
  • Strong academic background, including a degree in a STEM subject discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience delivering data‑driven solutions - ideally 2-5 years in Solutions Engineering, Business Analysis, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience implementing solutions that include data ingestion, transformation, validation, enrichment, or workflow logic.
  • Practical experience working with XML, SQL, and structured/semi‑structured data.
  • Evidence of strong engineering fundamentals and ability to learn quickly in a fast-moving environment.

Nice to Have

  • Solid Excel skills are advantageous.
  • Exposure to software development concepts (e.g., C#/.NET or a similar language) is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Previous tax experience is not required but would be advantageous.
