As a Solution Architect, you will lead the end-to-end design and delivery of IT solutions across international retail, commercial, and supply chain functions. Based in Nottingham, you will work full-time on-site, shaping high-impact technology initiatives through robust architectural planning and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver comprehensive solution architectures that align with business goals and technical requirements.
- Act as a bridge between technical teams, business units, and external partners to ensure architectural outputs meet strategic objectives.
- Develop and maintain roadmaps that guide technology evolution across retail and supply chain domains.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise and solution-level design governance, including adherence to architectural standards and patterns.
- Review and validate designs and cost estimates from internal teams and third parties to ensure value and completeness.
- Advise on complex design decisions, balancing cost, complexity, and business impact to maximise return on investment.
- Support procurement activities by providing technical expertise during supplier engagements and tender processes.
- Lead peer reviews of architectural deliverables, including outline, high-level, and detailed designs, to maintain consistency and quality.
- Take ownership of technical delivery, ensuring implementations align with approved architectural frameworks throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience in solution architecture, with a proven track record in designing scalable IT systems.
- Proficiency in architectural modelling languages such as ArchiMate and familiarity with TOGAF or similar frameworks.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, and experience with web services, microservices, and customer-facing digital solutions.
- Knowledge of integration patterns and technologies including Talend, MuleSoft, or Software AG, and tools such as Alfabet, ARIS, or Sparx Enterprise Architect.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including security, infrastructure, testing, and data governance.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GDPR and PCI in solution design.
- Ability to collaborate with enterprise architects to support transitional architecture strategies and target state planning.
