Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Be a coach, mentor, support system, and leader for a Spain-based, distributed, and diverse development team.
- You will grow, manage, and inspire the team by hiring new engineers and providing the mentoring and training platforms they need to succeed.
- You will create career plans for both junior and senior engineers.
- Develop and track key metrics for team performance.
- You will ensure the team has a clear understanding of the direction of the product and the reasoning behind high-level decisions.
- You will be key in RTI's cultural evolution, working with other Engineering Managers and leaders to define and evolve the 1RTI culture of our engineering organization.
- Project Management: You are responsible for the success of specific R&D GPP projects (involving products such as Connext Professional, Connext AI, or others).
- You will lead planning, manage and control execution, and organize the team’s resources. This includes creating and maintaining schedules, identifying and mitigating risks, and facilitating conflict resolution.
- You will regularly communicate progress and risks to stakeholders.
- Process Evolution: Introduce the right project management and development tools to allow the team to deliver software efficiently. You will mentor the team in best practices for planning and execution, evolving our 1RTI development processes
Requirements
- Management Experience: You are a leader with a proven track record of strong people management skills, including at least 4 years of experience leading software engineering teams of 10+ engineers.
- Team Building: Experience in recruiting, onboarding, and training high-performing teammates in a distributed environment.
- Project Leadership: Experience leading the full software development lifecycle. You should be adept at resource planning, risk management, and using project management tools to drive delivery.
- Technical Background: At least 4+ years of hands-on software development experience. (Note: Experience in high-level front-end only environments is not a fit for this role).
- Strategic Communication: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. You are able to synthesize complex product decisions into actionable context for your engineers.
