At Optum Tech, part of UnitedHealth Group, we are looking for a Software Engineering Lead to join our team. This role is focused on designing, developing, and maintaining software within the CAP application, with an emphasis on agile delivery, customer focus, and applying Gen AI tools to improve engineering workflows. What You'll Do
- Design and implement scalable and maintainable solutions for components within the CAP application.
- Mentor junior engineers, interns, and TDPs, collaborating closely with team members.
- Own and participate in code reviews, ensuring timely feedback and adherence to standards.
- Identify manual processes and advocate for automation to improve efficiency.
- Participate in on-call rotations, resolve tickets within SLA, and contribute to outage retrospectives.
- Deliver secure solutions free from significant vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with access restrictions.
- Actively engage in agile ceremonies, complete stories within the definition of done, and maintain consistent velocity.
- Understand the business impact of features, advocate for user needs, and align solutions with customer expectations.
- Leverage Gen AI-powered tools to accelerate development workflows, including test case generation and code optimization.
- Analyze, investigate, and provide explanations within your area of expertise.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of software development experience with a focus on full-stack engineering.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, and modern development practices.
- Experience working in agile teams and delivering high-quality software on time.
- Familiarity with Gen AI-powered development tools and a strong interest in applying AI to improve workflows.
- Solid proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, Java, Azure; experience with ReactJS and Camunda.
- Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions.
- Proven solid analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven commitment to security, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
