Wizards of the Coast's Skeleton Key studio is hiring a Software Engineering Intern to join the Magic: The Gathering Arena Engineering team. You will contribute directly to meaningful projects that impact players, gain exposure to modern development practices, and work alongside experienced engineers passionate about mentorship and innovation.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of new features and improvements.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues to ensure a stable and high-performing game experience.
- Participate in code reviews and team discussions to uphold engineering best practices and quality standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, product managers, artists, and QA to deliver scalable engineering solutions.
- Learn and apply modern development tools, workflows, and Agile methodologies in a production environment.
What We're Looking For
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Understanding of core computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- A growth mindset and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Nice to Have
- Experience with game development or similar projects.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Previous internship or related work experience.
