Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is looking for a Software Engineer for a contract-based role focused on developer tools. You'll collaborate with product and engineering teams to evolve and maintain a high-impact open-source VS Code extension.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the design and development of an open-source VS Code extension, writing clean and scalable TypeScript code.
- Improve extension architecture, usability, and integration with the core development platform.
- Write clear and accessible documentation for internal teams and external users.
- Collaborate with Customer Success teams to resolve issues and support enterprise users.
- Participate in shaping technical decisions and repository structure to optimize developer experience.
What We're Looking For
- Based in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, or Poland.
- 3+ years of professional full-stack development experience, with strong TypeScript proficiency.
- Familiarity with Go and shell scripting.
- Active presence on open-source platforms (e.g., GitHub or GitLab).
- Experience working across operating systems and understanding of basic networking protocols (IP, TCP, TLS, SSH, HTTP).
Nice to Have
- Background in maintaining open-source libraries or plugins is a strong plus.
